Brief History

Dukjegang Central School is in Drukjegang Gewog Center under Dagana Dzongkhag. It is located on a small mound opposite to Damphu town. It is closer to Tsirang than Dagana Dzongkhag head quarter, which is 85 km away from the school. The climate of the place is ideal with cool in winter and warm summer. It is 9 km ride from Yongsibi, zero point, from the Dzongkhag highway

Drukjegang Central School was awarded with its Autonomy on the Auspicious Day, coinciding with the Birth Anniversary of our beloved 5 th King, Jigme Kheser Namgyel Wangchuk, on 21st February, 2014. Having seen the need to improve the quality of education with change in time and demand of the education system, the school had applied for Autonomous school. The gift of School Autonomy was taken up passionately by the teachers with strong support from the Dzongkhag and the Ministry of Education. Subsequently, Drukjegang HSS became Drukjegang Central School in the academic year 2016, under the leadership of Principal, Kinzang Tshewang by merging Pangna Primary school with it. Currently the school campus has 8.34 acres with provision to expand further

The school was established in 1962 as a private school by the Drujeygang community with due permission from the Dzongkhag authorities. It was during the tenure of Dasho Ten Dorji, the then Dzongda-cum-Drangpon. According to Mr. Karma Samdrup, 60, and Ex-chimi of Drujeygang, the school came into existence due to sheer initiative of some prominent village figures of the time. They were Mr. Wangdi (Chemi), Mr. Pema Khandu (Gomchen), and Mr. Katem (former Gup)- all from Pangna village. Venerable Lopen Tshampa Duba of Namgay Choling Goemba and Dasho Sonam Dorji, Former national councilor, were among the few teachers of those days.
